Bedlam Theatre is proud to present YOU, a new ensemble dance work created by Minneapolis-based choreographer, Morgan Thorson. YOU explores the nature of togetherness found within the dance ensemble. It draws upon the ensemble’s shared experiences--the private things they learn about each other as well as the tricks they practice so they can move together. YOU reveals these social dynamics as well as the interpersonal connections between performer and viewer. YOU’s award-winning ensemble includes dancers Jessica Cressey, Genevieve Muench, Morgan Thorson and Max Wirsing; dramaturg Maren Ward; and lighting designer Lenore Doxsee with musical surprises everywhere.

Togetherness is what makes YOU come alive. The dance slowly composes itself from internal ensemble practice. In a forward-moving progression of strutting and skipping, the dancers lock-in-stride, spontaneously compose, and, together, overcome not knowing the audience. This simple overture is meant to recognize the role of the viewers and imbue them with the desire to reciprocate and join the dancers, but without obligation to do so. In YOU, togetherness is also expressed through the co-mingling of everything.

Theatrical elements, movement, sound, dancers, viewers and the site are all in relational conversations. YOU is composed as physical discourse and can simply be seen and experienced on its own terms. Created especially for Bedlam’s Lowertown space, YOU is Thorson’s and Bedlam’s inaugural dance production in St. Paul.

YOU will be performed at Bedlam Lowertown, 213 East 4th Street, St. Paul, MN 55101. Performances are at 8:00 pm from Saturday through Monday, March 22 - 24 and Thursday through Saturday, March 27 - 29. Tickets are $12.00 for Saturday - Thursday and $18.00 on March 28 and 29.
