For the first time EVER, the 17th Annual Yellow Rose 5K/10K Race will take place virtually in 2020 starting Monday, August 3 through Saturday, August 8. When thinking about being stronger together, we would like to invite EVERYONE from all locations to participate. Read more about what a virtual race entails below in the Q+A section.
This year, 40% of proceeds raised from t-shirt sales along with donations will go to The Max Foundation. The foundation's mission it to raise funds to support charitable programs, projects and activities that facilitate mental wellness amongst our youth. During uncertain times like these, many of us might be feeling overwhelmed, stressed, or sometimes even helpless. With the COVID-19 pandemic impacting our lives so significantly, our mental and emotional well-being is crucially important, and it is okay to ask for help. In addition, participants who would like to make a personal or individual contribution to a local charitable organization in the spirit of giving are supported and encouraged to do so. Let’s come together to raise awareness and support mental and emotional wellness.
17th Annual Yellow Rose Race Q&A
What is a virtual race?
A virtual race can be run (or walked!) anytime and anywhere during August 3-8, even indoors on a treadmill. You plan your race route around your neighborhood, favorite trail or within the comforts of your own home – set your own course!
How do I submit my race time?
Your finishing time can be submitted through the Yellow Rose Race Facebook page via messenger OR to the Yellow Rose Race Team at [email protected]. These times can be submitted starting August 3 through the end of the day on August 8. Please share any pictures of your race journey with the Yellow Rose Race Team. We plan to post race collages on the Facebook and Instagram pages.
Where do I start and finish?
The course is up to you but there will be mapped routes in Warroad, Roseau and Baudette shared on the Yellow Rose Race Facebook page. This also includes last year’s race route in Warroad, MN, which will be marked with mile marker signs along the race path the week of the race. Please feel free to share on our Facebook page your favorite route.
How do I track my distance and time my walk or run?
We accept results on the honor system, so you can track your distance and time however you like. The most accurate way to do this is by using a Running GPS watch, but there are also several free smartphone apps available for iPhones and Android devices that you may be interested in.
Fitness trackers ideas: Fitbit/Apple/Garmin watches.
Free cellphone app ideas: Pacer, Map My Run, Fitbit, or RunKeeper
What is the cost for registration?
This year, we have chosen to waive the entry fee; 40% of t-shirt sales, along with any voluntary donations made through registration, will go to the Max Foundation. T-shirts are available for $20 with the option to have it mailed directly to you for an additional $5 mailing fee.
Will there be awards?
We will announce the overall male/female winner of the 5K + 10K on our Facebook page the week of August 10. Winners will be contacted by the Yellow Rose Race Team to receive a prize
What if I don't have a Facebook or Instagram account to receive communications?
Please notify the Yellow Rose Race Team at [email protected] to be on the mailing list.
