| "Shine the Light on Sexual Violence"
SANE (Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner) Program at Mercy Health Youngstown and the Mahoning Valley SART (Sexual Assault Response Team) to support care packages for victims of sexual violence and to promote further education for frontline care providers working with victims of sexual violence as well as community education.
Mercy Health Youngstown's SANE Programs has been caring for patients of sexual violence since 2001. Currently Mercy Health Youngstown's facilities are the only ones with SANE program in Mahoning, Trumbull, and Columbiana counties. Patients are seen by the SANE Programs at three Mercy Health facilities including Youngstown, Boardman, and Warren.
Our goals are to provide immediate, comprehensive, compassionate care to patients of sexual assault through specially trained practitioners. To provide medical care and forensic evidence collection with minimal added trauma to patients. To provide patients with the knowledge they need to make decisions about their care. |
