Sota clothing and Still Kickin are coming together again for the Second Annual Sota + Still Kickin Kickball Tournament! Last year we raised $4,000 for a future Still Kickin Hero. We’re excited to announce that the tournament will be on Friday, October 6th. Check-in will start at 5:00 PM and the tournament begins at 6:00 PM.
We encourage businesses to create a team and meet other local like-minded people! Last year we had many local advertising agencies join the fun! This was pretty cool given that Aaron Purmort, whose inspiration sparked the beginnings of Still Kickin, had worked within the advertising world alongside many of these individuals.
The tournament will be structured as a 16 team double elimination bracket. Everyone is guaranteed two games, and games will run for about 15 min each. We encourage a team of 15, although we will allow 10 as a minimum.
Still Kickin all began with a tee shirt. Created by Aaron Purmort, with the help of his wife Nora, while encountering Aaron’s battle with brain cancer. This loving couple brought their moving story to a larger community. “Aaron was a good guy. Nope, a great guy. The kind of guy who made other people feel like they were great.”
Aaron had a seizure on Halloween 2011 while wearing a shirt with the words, “Still Kickin” printed across the front. This shirt was bought at a thrift store back when Aaron was in high school, but it was one of his most treasured possessions.
After the first seizure, Aaron spent three years in treatment for brain cancer, and the message on this shirt became a motto for him. It extended to be a motto for loved ones around him, strangers from the internet, and others experiencing similar hardships. This shirt has created a safety net for other amazing people who find themselves going through something awful.
Still Kickin provides financial support to awesome people going through terrible things. The proceeds from our co-branded shirts and registration fees at the kickball tournament will support the Still Kickin Heroes. We want others to embrace this inspiring community, so come hang out with the Sota clothing and Still Kickin crew along with our loyal supporters on October 6th! This is a kid-friendly event.
Panini Pinups and Dough Dough will be our dinner and dessert food trucks for the night! Come hungry and a portion of their proceeds will be donated too! Pepsi is supplying the Gatorade and water and Pine Tree Apple Orchard is donating the hot apple cider!
